Grace Lucille Riffer, 96, of Rochester, NY and formerly of Apple Creek and Wilmot, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at St. John's Home in Rochester following a period of declining health.
She was born in Ragersville on June 19, 1913 to the late Walter F. and Iva (Sigrist) Andrews and married Joseph S. Riffer on June 25, 1938. He died June 23, 1972.
She was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and was a teacher at the former Beach City School from 1935-1938. She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Apple Creek.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy J. Boerner of Rochester, NY and Jean Anne (A. Eugene) Kohler of Arnold, MD; three grandsons, David (Margaret) Boerner of Lake Jackson, TX, Mark (Meghan) and Kevin (Kerry) Kohler of Arnold, MD; one great grandson, Graham Kohler; brother and sister-in-law, Robert W. and Lee Andrews of Farmerstown; and many nieces, nephews , cousins and dear friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, John F. and Ruby Andrews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Apple Creek with Pastor Jacqueline McMillen officiating. Burial will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Wilmot. Friends may call on Friday from 6-8 PM at the Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton.
